Due to popular demand we have expanded ALL ABOARD! to three sessions. ALL ABOARD is an opportunity for nonprofit board members and staff to gain critical knowledge that can be employed to help their agencies. This year's effort will focus on two areas that agencies have asked for assistance: Fund Development and Human Resource Law. The third evening event will salute the region's volunteers.

Arkansas is an employment at will state, but do you know the state law exceptions to employment at will? Are your employment policies written and up to date? Does your organization build in policies and procedures that protect it from liability? What kind of language do you use in your employee recruiting? Does your organization have an employee handbook, and is it up to date?

Wrestle with these questions and others in learning how to reduce your agency's exposure to frivolous lawsuits. In this seminar learn preventive strategies that can improve your odds in attracting and maintaining effective working relationships between board members and staff.

Come and delve into H. R. Law with Charles Harwell. Charles is a partner with the firm of Cypert, Crouch, Clark and Harwell in Springdale, AR. Charles is a graduate of the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and Arts, and the University of Arkansas School of Law. He has been an attorney for more than 20 years, all at the same firm. His general law practice has included considerable work in employment law including advising and representing various businesses on employment issues. Charles has represented many nonprofits in a variety of ways throughout the years. His professional time is divided between litigation and non-litigation matters and he has both defended and prosecuted employment discrimination lawsuits.
